Temporal entanglement and transverse contraction methods for time evolution of quantum systems

The dynamics of quantum many-body systems is one of the traditionally most challenging problems to study for classical simulators. Recently, however, the development of novel methodologies based on the concept of temporal entanglement has opened the way to a series of new results, allowing to access dynamical properties of quantum systems with efficient classical algorithms, such as transverse contraction methods for tensor networks.
In this talk, I will review the ideas behind these new methods, and the properties of the generalized temporal entanglement which can be introduced in this context. In particular, I will discuss its relation with the computational complexity of the time evolution of expectation values of local operators, a possible experimental setup for measuring it, and its connection with quantities introduced in holography and conformal field theories.
